Israeli growers have found the UK market is hot when it comes to selling peppers. Winter estimates issued by Agrexco indicate that the allocation of capsicums will be substantially increased on last season. Then imports to the UK accounted for around 35% of the 20,000 tonne programmed crop. UK sales manager Yaron Yarchie said: "While capsicums are becoming a regular items on shopping lists, we are now seeing a sharp increase in sales of the orange variety, once considered niche and only allotted a small shelf space. Agrexco reports a 45% rise in demand for traffic light packs (red, orange and green) and value family packs.
