Tory shadow chancellor George Osborne is to meet the bosses of the UK's big supermarket chains next week, as the party continues its courtship of UK business.

The meeting on 8 May follows a summit at which Philip Dunne MP, the Conservatives' sector leader for consumer goods and retail, discussed issues affecting the food industry with BRC and FDF representatives.

The heads of the UK's biggest retailers will be encouraged to share their concerns with Osborne."It is vital for Conservatives to engage at a senior level with business leaders as we develop policy initiatives," Dunne told The Grocer.
