The Mentholatum Company, the manufacturer of non-prescription drugs and healthcare products has bought the OXY brand of acne skin care products from GlaxoSmithKline.

The company will immediately begin selling the products worldwide but GlaxoSmithKline will continue to distribute the OXY products for a transitional period.

The OXY purchase adds to the Mentholatum line, which includes products such as Deep Heat, Deep Relief and Deep Freeze, Softlips, Lip Protectant/ Sunscreen and Rohto Eye care products.

“The OXY family of skincare products is a well established and strong brand in the acne segment, an important part of the Dermtology Category,” says Dr Akiyoshi Woshida, Mentholatum President and ceo. “It adds significant volume to Mentholatum’s business and enables us to grow in a way that makes sense for our business and for our customers, who recognise our products for their quality and value.”
