A last minute deal from Frigoscandia and Belgian vegetable processor Pinguin has secured production of peas at Albert Fisher's King's Lynn plant.
Work stopped at King's Lynn earlier this month after receivers failed to find a buyer, leaving growers in the lurch weeks before the crop was due for harvesting. Frigoscandia said it would take ownership of all freehold land and buildings at the site while Pinguin would buy the plant and machinery and set up a UK operation.
l Albert Fisher's receiver KPMG said it was still processing offers for the company's chilled and seafood divisions as The Grocer went to press.
