PepsiCo has reported a 12.4% increase in half-year net profit to $2.6bn (£1.25bn), on net sales up 9.8% at $16.9bn (£8.1bn).

Strong performances from its Frito-Lay snacks operation and its international businesses had helped boost sales, PepsiCo said.

However, double-digit snacks volume growth in Russia, India, and Mexico had partially offset a 1% decline in its Walkers business in the UK.

“All of our lines of business performed at or above our expectations, enabling us to generate strong division profit growth while lapping last year's best quarter,” added Indra Nooyi, chairman and CEO of PepsiCo.
