Perkins Foods, the chilled, fresh and frozen food manufacturer, has appointed David Young group chief executive.
He was previously global president of battery maker Duracell, where he was also involved in the buy-out by US private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts. The move led to flotation and ultimately a merger with Gillette.
Young succeeds Iain Blackburn who has decided to pursue other interests after 15 years with the company. Blackburn said he was seeking a fresh challenge and was considering several non-executive roles. He added: "David Young is a good guy. Perkins is a good company to run and I wish him all the best."
Young began his career at Nestlé's Chambourcy dairy business.
