Breeding herd growth in Denmark, pointing to increased pigmeat supply, shows the industry there is much further into the next cyclical output uptrend phase than the UK pig sector despite prices much lower than in this country and noticeably soft in the past few weeks. Yet the superficially modest rise in total breeding sow numbers (just 0.8% since July 1999) masks significant increases approaching 5% in the tallies of young breeding stock, signs the growth is accelerating. {{MEAT }}
