Alcoholic drink producers could face stiffer regulations following a consultation document issued by the drinks watchdog the Portman Group. It has published a wide ranging discussion paper which is seeking the views of the industry, government and local authorities on key issues. Portman has asked for comments on the regulation of alcohol sales from web sites, the taste and decency of products and their marketing and the potential tightening up of the rules on sponsorship and promotions. The consultations are due in at the end of March and this could lead to the introduction of a revised code of practice in the autumn. {{NEWS }}
