The Periodical Publishers' Association (PPA) has unveiled "consensual" alternative proposals for a national distribution system to the Newspaper Proprietors Association. Called Blueprint, it is designed to counter the WH Smith proposals. Chairman of the NPA circulation executive Mike Newman said: "The NPA continues to be concerned about the potential impact of the WH Smith News deal on rural and independent retailers, as well as on national newspaper sales. We are therefore, open to any proposal that attempts to provide a consensual alternative. "The NPA is eager to examine the proposal in more detail. To this end, we plan to talk through Blueprint with the PPA, multiple retailers and the National Federation of Retail Newsagents (NFRN) to ensure that the interest of national newspapers is reflected within the specification." {{CTN }}
