Sausages and baby food could be affected by recommendations presented to the Food Standards Agency by the BSE and Sheep Stakeholders Group this week. The group is calling for the removal of sheep intestine from sale in the EC as a precautionary measure as it is viewed as a potential source of BSE infection. The group also wants the baby food industry to introduce voluntary country of origin labelling for lines containing lamb so customers are free to choose. The FSA, which is to consider the report, has stressed the BSE risk in sheep remains theoretical and is not against the consumption of lamb. {{NEWS }}
