Own-label chilled food group Uniq reported trading "in line with expectations" as it posted a 2.4% year on year increase in the first 21 weeks of the year.

Desserts sales were down 5.9% over the same period following the phased exit of its cottage cheese business and losses from the everyday desserts business at Minsterley from April.

Premium desserts sales continued to outperform last year's levels while Food to Go sales were up 11.2% on last year. The company attributed these gains to "a continued focus on providing the product and service required by customers and the end consumer."
