The move will see 340g jars of Strawberry Conserve and Fine Cut Orange Marmalade made with sugar from Malawi hitting shelves at the beginning of next month. Both will retail at £1.19.
Duerr’s said sales of products carrying the Fairtrade branding had grown by 90% to £63m in the last year. Marketing director Richard Duerr said: “Fairtrade is about better prices, local sustainability, decent working conditions and fair trading for farmers and workers in the developing world. I want to ensure Duerr’s gives something back to farmers who grow the sugar we use.”
