Newly appointed chief executive of Boots, Richard Baker will spend a couple of weeks stacking shelves and manning tills at stores across the country in the run-up to Christmas.
The Sunday Telegraph said Baker has also ordered fellow directors back to the shop floor this Christmas to gain a better understanding of the business. The paper added that at Asda all head office staff have to work in a store at some stage over Christmas and New Year.

Express Dairies is reported to be ready to cover for striking postmen to deliver mail for banks, utilities and mail order companies.
The Sunday Times said that Express could use its 80 depots to deliver mail on 3,500 milk rounds.
