Soft drinks company Britvic has reported a 13.2% increase in half-year pre-tax profit to £17.2m on sales up 28.6% at £454.7m.

Revenue for stills drinks rose 2.8% to £161.8m during the 28 weeks to 13 April, Britvic said, with continued outperformance of the market across all categories.

However, carbonates revenue rose just 0.4% to £185.4m, hit by weakness in the licensed on-premise channel and increased promotional activity across the take-home market in the first quarter.

“Britvic has delivered a resilient performance in the first half with market share gains across the majority of our brands,” said CEO Paul Moody.

“This is a positive result given the challenging trading environment in the licensed on-premise market in particular and also in take-home where the market is still recovering from the effects of last year's poor summer.”
