Bart Becht, the chief executive of Reckitt Benckiser, pocketed almost £93m from the household goods giant in 2009.
The sum combines more than £70m in share options exercised by the Dutchman, as well as performance-related shares worth £13m and a salary and benefits package totalling £ £4.9m.
Becht was the highest paid boss in the FTSE 100 in 2008, when he took home £36.8m.
He is now certain to top that list for 2009 – although Becht is reported to have given most of the cash to a charitable trust.
The news comes after Reckitt, whose so-called ‘Powerbrands’ include Cillit Bang, Finish and Vanish, in February announced a 12% rise in annual profits to £1.89bn.
