Local backed  in theory An ambiguous message about the significance of traceability and local sourcing has emerged from a survey of education authorities by the MLC. Traceability was rated higher than price, 8.7 against 7.1 on a 1 to 10 scale. Low food mileage also rated highly, almost matching price as a criterion. On the face of it the survey supports the Curry report strategy, implying the market is increasingly willing to favour domestic industry output despite price handicaps. However, the MLC acknowledges only a fifth of the survey respondents were buying meat locally. And of those which were not, fewer than a quarter said the report made them think about the issue. {{MEAT }}
