Leeds retailer Noshi Foods International has been found guilty of 26 breaches under EC fresh produce marketing standards.

The prosecution followed surveillance over a 13-month period by horticultural marketing inspections officers. They found Noshi offering sub-standard produce such as Conference pears and cauliflowers at its Harehills Road store in Leeds. Labelling defects were also uncovered.

The breaches, to which director Mohammed Yasin and company secretary Ifthikar Hussain pleaded guilty, resulted in a fine of £23,000 and costs of £8,014.
