Sports Loyalty Card has relaunched its football loyalty programme to all retailers in time for the start of the season.

The Reward card enables football fans to collect points that can be traded in for football-related rewards such as match tickets and club merchandise.

It was tested with online retailers such as Tesco.com and Waitrose Wine Direct but SLC CEO Gavin Dein said he expected to recruit 25,000 conventional retailers to the scheme by the end of the season in May 2004.

There are one million cards in circulation but Dein said there should be four million in fans’ hands by May.

Currently six football clubs are tied in - Birmingham City, Ipswich Town, Manchester City, Everton, Portsmouth and Aberdeen - with four joining next month and 10 more in January.
