RFID has yet to produce the anticipated uplift in availability and sales, one of its pioneers has admitted.
Speaking at the CIES IT and Supply Chain Conference in Geneva, Ian Mumby, M&S's head of supply chain, logistics and IT- foods, unveiled results of an initial ten-week outloading trial.
The trial yielded benefits to productivity, and also to the accuracy of outloading and stockfile, but not yet on the scale that had been initially predicted.
He added: "It's not really affected availability or sales yet. It is having a markedly beneficial effect on waste."
