Alliance Boots, the owner of high street chemist Boots, has reported a 15.5% jump in full-year sales.
Sales rose to £20.5bn in the year to 31 March as profits leapt 11.3% to £1.24bn. Like-for-like sales in Boots stores rose 1.3% during the period.
The company’s health and beauty division, which includes its food offer, reported a 3.1% increase in sales to £6.3bn, boosted by strong sales of the No 7 cosmetics and skincare range.
The results follow the recent high-profile launch of No7 Protect & Perfect Intense Beauty Serum.
“The group’s financial position remains strong, reflecting a focus on profit generation and working capital management combined with secure long-term funding arrangements,” said executive chairman Stefano Pessina.
“As a result we remain confident about our prospects for the year ahead.”
