Farmfoods has reported £383m sales for the year to December 2007, down from £415m the previous year. However, accounts posted at Companies House reveal that pre-tax profit rose from £2.2m to £5m. This figure was boosted by ‘other operating income’, which grew from £0.6m to £4.2m. Although the company declined to comment on the figures, it is expected that Farmfoods - which is second in The Grocer’s Top 50 - will benefit from the credit crunch because of its value and lack of waste.
