Condom to footcare product manufacturer SSL International has reported a 20% jump in half-year sales to £387m.

The group said sales had been boosted by the acquisition of Russian condom maker Beleggingsmaatschappil Lemore in June.

Sales of SSL’s key Durex brand had performed well in China, Poland and Germany over the six months to 30 September, chief executive Garry Watts reported, while Scholl footcare products had seen good growth in Germany, France and Japan.

“Our core business continues to show good like-for-like growth,” Watts commented. “Notwithstanding the challenging economic conditions in the period and in some markets, we have been able to strengthen our position through targeted marketing.”
