Sales of premium sausages are growing at 7% year-on-year and Chris Lukehurst, marketing manager for the British Pig Executive, believes that the return of traditional dishes such as bangers and mash and toad in the hole to the menus of many trendy restaurants has broadened the appeal of sausages for adult consumers.
Lukehurst said: “The quality available has been vastly improved and premium sausages are now seen as an
interesting adult product that is suitable for a number of different usage occasions.
“It is perfectly acceptable to include premium sausages as the centrepiece of a diner party, while they are seen as an interesting and generous product to bring to a barbecue.”
