Dutch flower bulb producers have launched a quality mark to give retailers peace of mind.
Bulbs sold with the mark on their packaging must meet rules and quality requirements set by Flower Bulbs Quality Mark Foundation Holland. Growers are audited by independent specialists who monitor qualities such as health, colour and size.
Jan Hendrik Kloosterboer, secretary of the Quality Mark Foundation Holland, said the mark would benefit retailers: “It guarantees the bulbs are of the highest quality and, because the scheme incorporates an efficient complaints procedure, it removes the burden of dealing with customer complaints.”
