Food suppliers have been urged not to treat Scotland as a regional afterthought. Dougie Edgar, president of the Scottish Grocers' Federation, said: "I am particularly worried about the UK wide rationalisation of distribution centres. The quality of our trade will suffer if we are relegated to regional status served by a computer at a depot in northern England." Edgar wants more regular liaison between suppliers and retailers in Scotland: "Let's not worry about potential problems, let's discuss them and find solutions that help keep a strong, vibrant independent retail presence in Scotland." {{NEWS }}
