This year's Scottish Food and Drink Excellence Awards will include a new category for companies that can demonstrate all-round achievement in reducing environmental impact in the manufacture and distribution of products.

It aims to encourage the £8bn Scottish food and drink industry to recognise the importance of environmental management in delivering quality products. It reflects the thinking behind the Scottish Executive's Sustainable Development Strategy.

The Environmental Award is one of 16 awards, with other categories including retail products, foodservice, international business, brand development, direct marketing and healthy eating.

The Scottish Food and Drink Excellence Awards are co-sponsored by the The Grocer. Closing date for entries is 21 February. Entry forms are available at www.scottishfoodanddrink.com.
