Leading meat quality experts are set to descend on Scotland next year for a major conference.
Quality Meat Scotland will be organising the conference, which takes place in Edinburgh next June, on behalf of the International Meat Secretariat.
Jim Walker, chairman of QMS, said the decision by IMS confirmed Scotland’s reputation as a centre of excellence for quality meat production.
Speaking at the opening of the Royal Highland Show last week, he said: “The Scottish industry has a reputation around the world for its high production standards. It’s fitting that a major conference
focusing on meat quality should be held here.
“It will also allow us to hear new techniques and research on improving meat quality which can be used to benefit our business. We’re always looking for ways to stay ahead.”
The event will be timed to take place with the 2005 Royal Highland Show, June 21 and 22.
