Retail crime in Scotland’s c-store sector is continuing to rise, data from the Scottish Grocers’ Federation has revealed.

The federation found that the number of physical attacks on staff had increased 15% in the past year, while the incidence of threats of violence had increased 29%.

SGF president, Pete Cheema, said: “Crime in our trade sector is definitely on the increase and it’s beginning to cost serious money. Let us all ensure that the authorities first of all are aware of what’s going on and then encourage them to deal with the perpetrators.”
