Seafood stocks could run out in 40 years time, scientists have warned.

A study by researchers at the Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada, on more than 100 fishing regions found that if current trends do not change, every seafood species would collapse below commercially viable levels by 2048.

Professor Boris Worm, author of the study, said: “Whether we looked at tide pools or studies over the entire world's ocean, we saw the same picture emerging. I was shocked and disturbed by how consistent these trends are.”
