Shepherd Neame has announced a 2.1% increase in pre-tax profits for the year to the end of June. The brewer of Bishops Finger and Spitfire said turnover had grown to £78.8m, adding that it hoped rationalisation of brands in supermarkets would further increase sales of its beer this year.

Not a cake Blandy's is relaunching its campaign to educate consumers about Madeira wine. Bottles of the company's Dukes Madeira range will feature a neck collar explaining that it is in fact a wine, not a cake.

New green bottles Bottle Green is extending its range of Italian wines with a new pair called Diverso. Priced at #4.99, the wines are a Zinfandel from the south and a Pinot Grigio Chardonnay from the north. Safeway has agreed to stock the wines.
