The visits will be carried out by BCP in Smile’s 77 stores every three weeks from next month.
The company, ranked 26 in The Grocer Top 50 independent retailers, will be able to compare findings across the total estate and area managers will revisit any stores experiencing problems.
Reports will also highlight adherence levels by product and this will be discussed in meetings held with suppliers.
Smile CEO Jeremy Symonds said: “It is to make sure that at all times we have maximum discipline and when we say we are going to do a promotion it is in every shop. We have EpoS data, but this system will enable us to be absolutely certain that what we say is going to be done in-store is carried out, and that we are providing good availability to the customer at all times.”
