Bathers can enjoy a wee dram of the strong stuff with the launch of the first soap made from whisky and oak casks.
Commissioned by the Islay distillery Bruichladdich, The Malt Bar contains whisky and oak shavings planed from the inside of maturation casks.
Ailsa Hayes, of the Spirited Soap Company, said it was very different from the ‘girly’ alcoholic perfumes used to make most soaps transparent. “It’s a sweet, toasted-oak smell; like a cross between a cigar box, carpenter’s workshop, hayloft and coal-tar.”
The bar (rsp: £4.95) is available through www.laddieshop.com.
