Soft drinks has been one of the the top three promoted categories since Christmas and this week takes the number one spot.
The category is supported by Robinsons, which continues in the brand chart and has improved its position by four places.
Outside the chart, stalwarts such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, 7-Up and Irn Bru all contribute to the category’s success.
Alcoholic drinks is the other category to move up this week even though no alcoholic brand manages to attain a top 10 position. Within the alcoholic drinks section, the price promotion is by far the most frequently used promotional mechanic with an extensive range of wines participating.
Burns’ Night, Pancake Day and Chinese New Year seem to be the driving force behind some of the promotions in store.
A variety of brands of Haggis and, of course, whisky are on promotion for Burns’ Night, including Glenmorangie, Glenfiddich, Teachers and William Grant whiskies.
