Southern Co-operative's convenience store in Liphook, Hampshire is trialling a self-service video and DVD rental vending machine. The retailer has signed a deal with Blockbuster for the service which offers 24-hour access to films and games. Customers may pay by inserting a credit or debit card into the machine without becoming a Blockbuster member. A Southern Co-operatives spokesman said it was considering other locations. "We hope that as well as providing additional income for the society, the machine will increase the store's customer flow." Southern Co-operatives, says films unsuitable for under-18s could not be accessed by children because the machine identifies cards that are issued specifically to under-18s. {{NEWS }}
