The extension of Glenfiddich malt whisky with premium Reserve styles appears to be paying dividends in both the UK and global markets. Brand owner William Grant introduced the upmarket Solera and Ancient variants in 2000 and their sales volumes around the world grew by 39% last year. In the UK, Solera Reserve volumes were up 70% in 2001. This helped the UK's leading brand increase its share of the malt market in this country to 16.8%. The brand's performance was driven by a new global marketing campaign called The Independent Spirit which included a £1.5m press and poster campaign in the UK at the end of last year. {{DRINKS }}
