At the same time, Brian Sharp, marketing director at Scottish Courage Brands for the past four years, has been promoted to MD Scottish Brewers. He is the latest high profile off-trade name to shift to the on-trade, following the move by Coors' John Holberry to become MD for its on-trade sales division in July.
As part of his new responsibilities Stanger will be responsible for setting off-trade strategy. He will also be overseeing the implementation of customer promotional plans in his new role.
Stanger has been with the brewer's off-trade division for four years and previously held a senior commercial planning role in the wholesale and convenience sectors.
