The company carried out 16 onsite valuations of independent stores on Sunday alone and was hopeful of carrying out a further 70 throughout the duration of the show.
While this could be seen as a sign of independent retailers selling up in the face of stiff competition from the major multiples, Mathew Grace, retail negotiator for Christie’s & Co Birmingham, thinks not.
He said: “It is simply a sign of the transient nature of the market at the moment.
“What we have seen this week is people who are moving towns but who want to remain in the industry, as well as people looking to buy their second, third and fourth stores. It is a busy market and one that people still want to move into.”
