Subway, the US sandwich chain, opened its 500th UK store at Bristol International Airport this week.
Owner of the store, Sue Pasco, said: “The Subway chain has experienced phenomenal growth in the UK and Ireland in recent months. As the world’s largest submarine sandwich franchise, with more than 23,000 restaurants in over 80 countries, the brand is also recognisable and trusted for international visitors using the airport.”
The chain is to invest more than £150m in opening a further 1,500 outlets across the UK and Ireland over the next six years, overtaking McDonald’s in the UK by 2009.
