Highland Spring is celebrating its best ever monthly sales after the soaring temperatures in June boosted sales of the mineral water.

Monthly sales for the group broke the £10m barrier for the first time, with sales of its sparkling water up 6.5% over June 2009 to £1.65m. The company said growth was driven by sales of single-serve bottles doubling since the previous year.

“Sparkling water sales rise in hot weather as people use it for summer entertaining and as alternative refreshment to carbonated soft drinks,” said Highland Spring chief executive Les Montgomery.

“We have been the leading sparkling brand in the UK market for more than 10 years and with the market growing by 9% year on year, this continued growth will help us reach our ambition of becoming a £100m turnover business by 2013.”
