Food from Britain chairman Gordon Summerfield will step down at the end of the year.
He became chairman in January 2000 and by the end of this year will have served the maximum six-year term.
FFB said Summerfield had been instrumental in raising its profile and presence in the industry.
During his tenure, FFB has maintained its grant from Defra and received an additional £1m a year in funding to promote Britain’s regional food and drink sector.
Summerfield has worked in the food industry since leaving school, starting at his family’s dairy processing and retail business, which was later sold to Northern Dairies where, in 1978, he became MD of its milk manufacturing division
After his retirement from FFB, Summerfield will continue as a non-executive director with Arla and as part time chairman of the Hilton Food Group.
