Irish supermarket chain Superquinn will roll out electronic shelf edge labels to three stores this summer after successful trials of the technology at its Lucan store. If the move is a success, the labels will be rolled out across the estate. Approximately 30,000 paper labels will be replaced by digital tags starting next month, said marketing director Eamonn Quinn. "We've done a cost benefit analysis after extensive trials at Lucan but we want to check it works across a whole store before we commit to a major rollout." Key benefits are price integrity and efficiency, said Quinn. The NCR system allows managers to change prices on the shelf automatically from a central computer via radio frequency signals. {{NEWS }}
