English sheep producers are being urged to ‘cash in’ on a new £7m support fund.
The Farm Assurance Supplement is available to all English sheep producers who are farm-assured.
The payment is expected to be worth around one euro per ewe and farmers can expect to start receiving payments within the next few weeks.
Ian Frood, Assured British Meat chairman, said: “We have worked hard with DEFRA to encourage recognition of the efforts of farm-assured producers. The money will also act as an additional incentive to encourage non-assured producers to sign up.”
