Young’s is to round off a year of busy activity by introducing frozen sushi in time for the Christmas party season. The company said the move came as sales of fresh sushi from chilled cabinets had rocketed to around £4m in the last year, signalling a growing appetite among consumers for the traditional Japanese dish. Young’s Frozen Party Sushi contains 14 pieces of sushi, soy sauce, ginger and wasabi, all served in a tray that doubles as a buffet party serving dish. The 350g tray is being listed at £4.99. Young’s said the latest addition to its portfolio would help it grow its share of the £127m frozen speciality fish category even further. It now claims to have more than a one-third share of that market following a raft of recent launches including Mussels, Lemon Sole Goujons and Crispy Jumbo Prawns. Hayley Baddiley, speciality marketing manager at Young’s, said: “The new product is perfect both for established sushi fans and for people who might not have felt confident enough to try sushi in the out of home environment.” {{P&P }}
