Poppets is the latest product to come over all nostalgic with a £2m retro makeover.
Fox's Confectionery is bringing back what it claims are the original qualities of the brand, with packaging that incorporates iconic 1970s items, including a Rubik's Cube, a space hopper, a VW camper van and a lava lamp. Paynes branding is also being reintroduced to appeal to adults who grew up with the product, as well as to younger consumers.
Radio and consumer press advertising will support the launch, while a nationwide sampling campaign will run throughout the summer.
Marketing manager Tracey Mattock said the revamp would inspire consumers to return to the brand: "Research shows that Poppets has a prompted recall that is higher than most confectionery brands. We wanted to capitalise on that."
Last year Nestlé Rowntree revived its Texan bar. Jubbly, the iconic ice lolly, and Fizz Bombs also made a reappearance.
