Kay Wheatley, 34. Medical secretary, from Romford, Essex. They say that first impressions are lasting, and this unfortunately proves to be the case with Omni Sparkling Pinot Chardonnay. There is no doubt the radical new-wave looks of Omni focus on the image-conscious 20 to 40-year-old. But having grabbed my attention as a new departure in the sparkling white wine market, I was left somewhat flat once the refreshing pop and misty aroma had faded away. This was a shame because the wine promised to deliver much. At first sight Omni appears to be a fruity, pinky, rich young wine but the reality was that, while having an inoffensive aftertaste, it did not pick me up and shake me about! As a consequence, I found myself questioning what I was getting for £6.99. The answer is a wine that focuses too heavily on superficial looks, forgetting that the proof of the pudding should indeed be in the eating. This has an instantly forgettable taste.
