Tate & Lyle has named Douglas Hurt as a non-executive director.

Hurt, who joins the sugar manufacturer’s board of directors today, is finance director for international engineering group IMI. He has also worked for GlaxoSmithKline.

“The board is delighted that Douglas has agreed to join us,” said Tate & Lyle chairman Sir Peter Gershon.

“His financial and business management experience will be of great benefit to the board.”
