Tawny Port is the focus of this year's campaign by Port generic body, Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e do Porto .

"The tawny category acts as a key driver in value growth for Port in the UK market," said IVDP marketing director Paulo Pinto.

"By focusing on this emerging category we hope to generate excitement."

The Taste Tawny trade, press and consumer campaign will include sampling and tastings at food and drink events around the country. Total exports of tawny Port to the UK last year grew 1.1% to 44,478 nine-litre cases, making up 10% of total UK Port imports in 2006.
