Frozen food discounter Frozen Value plans to open 10 new stores and refurbish a further 10 this year.
The chain operates 72 stores across Yorkshire, Lancashire, Humberside and Nottinghamshire under the Jack Fulton brand. New store openings will remain in the company's current geographical boundaries.
Frozen Value had a bumper year last year, with profit set to top £800,000 in the year to January 2007 - up from £254,000 in 2005.
Director Kevin Gunter said the increase in profit was down to nine shop openings and 18 store refurbishments, in which eight stores had received a full refit and 10 stores had been freshened up. Presentation had been improved and ranges expanded.
"Although the frozen sector is struggling, we have bucked the trend with strength and width in our offer," said Gunter.
He added that the chain was still considering whether to trial a brokerage service for other retailers.
