Thanet Earth Marketing has thanked its retail customers for their “continuing faith in our business” throughout its battle to defend its labour practices during an investigation by the Gangmasters Licensing Authority.
The GLA last week concluded a four-month investigation into the labour providers used by Thanet, following complaints from the Unite union. The GLA said it found no issues with two of the providers, and the issues found with the third had been successfully resolved. All three agencies retain full GLA licences.
Thanet Earth said its practices had been exonerated and thanked its staff, labour providers and retail customers for their ongoing support.
A spokesman for Unite said the union was still keen to push for greater worker rights through the Ethical Trading Initiative and had approached a major supermarket over the issue.
