April 13, 1991. Calls to reform the laws on equal pay have received the backing from the CBI. But it has rejected proposals made by the Equal Opportunities Commission for tribunals to go ahead whether or not they have a reasonable chance of success. The Confederation says the EOC's proposals will severely limit employers' legimate defences to equal pay structures.
